Words Backlog

The rationale behind this is to make it easy to create a dictionary while reading something. Here are the keys to add:

  • Win + W - word
  • Win + A - translation
  • Win + Q - explanation

CSV

CSV stands for 'Comma separated values' and it's a simple format for tabular exchange. You can use CSV to import existing words list. Just make sure that the foreign word comes first, followed by translation and optional explanation. Just like this:

There's one thing you should be aware of and it's name is UTF-8. This single thing renders Microsoft Excel useless (at least as of version 2003). Briefly, that's file encoding that allows store national symbols (Russian, Chinese, etc.; everything that is non-Latin). So if you are getting all sorts of funny symbols when importing from CSV, that's it. I suggest using OpenOffice that has no such problem. Just make sure you select Unicode (UTF-8):

Adding Books

To add a book, place it under/wordoholic-reader folder on SD card, then go to library and select Refresh.
